Well, the title says it all. I will be taking a break from teaching Hypnobirthing Classes at the end of this year. It has been a great experience for me to help guide soon to be parents through the Hypnobirthing programme. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and feel privileged to have been a part of their birthing journey.
I am still taking bookings for my last class which will be in November 2011.
If you or anyone you know is interested in learning Hypnobirthing after this date, please contact me and I will make some alternative suggestions.
Bye for now

Jessica Alba and Hypnobirthing
Did anyone see Jessica Alba on The Ellen Show recently? It screened on May 20th in The USA and I think it screened in New Zealand this week. Unfortunately I missed it.
Jessica Alba used Hypnobirthing with her first child about two years ago and plans to use the method again with her second child. Apparently, she spoke with Ellen for several minutes about Hypnobirthing and the benefits of giving birth naturally.
It's heartening to see people with such a large public profile supporting Hypnobirthing and extolling it's merits. I would like to see every parent utilise the Hypnobirthing method. If you are expecting a child, why not enquire about the next Hypnobirthing course in your area?
The next class for Wellington is due to start on June 26th and following that another will start in September. Check it out. What have you got to lose?

Christchurch Earthquake and Pregnancy
The massive Earthquake in Christchurch shocked us all and my heart goes out to all those effected. I understand how difficult it must be for those who have suffered through the quake(s)to maintain a sense of normalcy.
For those of you who have been effected by the Christchurch quake, are you aware that you can obtain free help in dealing with the emotional and psychological issues that have resulted? To make an inquiry email info@nlprecovery.co.nz or phone 0800 657 732.
If there are any pregnant women from Christchurch who have relocated to the Wellington area and are still suffering from worry, stress and anxiety, I can help. I would like to offer you a free place in my Hypnobirthing class to help you have a calm, relaxed birth and resolve any issues related to the Earthquake.
Please contact me to find out more.

Birth Movie
The birth of your child is one of the most, if not the most, memorable event you will ever experience. It is a great joy and also a great responsibility to bring a new life into the world. How you approach this event is important as it can impact not only on your life but that of your baby too.
The Hypnobirthing classes I conduct encourage each partner to trust in their own wisdom and relax in the knowledge that they can bring their baby into the world in a calm, peaceful and joyful state.
I discovered a lovely movie on an interesting website called Indie Birth written by Maryn Leister. ( www.indiebirth.com ). Check it out. www.birthmovie.com
Please get back to me and let me know what you think of it.

Childbirth Class to Start Soon
Happy New Year to you all. I can hardly believe it is already 2011. Where we used to say next year I'll be... next year is actually here. The clock is ticking for many of you who are expecting a baby in 2011 and the time could be right to take a Hypnobirthing Childbirth Class.
The first childbirth education class for this year will be held in Hataitai, Wellington and is due to start on 30th January. This course will run for 4 weeks and will cover everything you need to know to have a relaxed, calm and natural childbirth.

Either way, Hypnobirthing can offer you and your birth companion a wonderful new insight into how relaxed and easy your birth experience can be. Giving birth is a normal, natural part of life and once you have learned the deep relaxation and breathing methods Hypnobirthing teaches, you will be well on the way to a calm, safe and satisfying birth.

Oh Baby
I recently saw an interview with author Kathy Fray. I really liked what she had to say so decided to read her book titled 'Oh Baby...birth, babies and Motherhood Uncensored'
What a great book. Kathy offers practical, down to earth information for pregnancy and motherhood. This includes preparation of both mind and body, what your birth assistant needs to do and options for birth.
I would suggest you view this part of the book as 'interesting to know 'not necessarily the way birth is or should be. Hypnobirthing Mum's will experience birth a bit differently.
The information regarding baby's early weeks at home is straightforward and thorough. Kathy covers all manner of things including how to care for baby, parenting styles and where to find help should you need it.
I highly recommend this book as a comprehensive guide to birth and motherhood. Kathy's style is light, warm and friendly. A wonderful addition to your library.

Tired in Pregnancy
So you're pregnant, and tired and getting a bit anxious about how you will cope with the rigors of birth and new motherhood. Here is a short technique you can use to re-energize yourself.
Go outside on a fine day and choose a solid tree in your garden or close by. Stand with your back against the trunk. Close your eyes and imagine the life energy of that tree pouring into you. The tree harnesses energy from the earth and the sun and that energy can refresh and rejuvenate you.
As you stand there breath deeply yet gently for a few moments and allow any tension to fall away from you down into the earth below. Notice how your body is responding, you may feel light or tingly, or calm and together. Take a few moments to take what you need, thank the tree ( sounds funny, I know ) and return to your normal activity feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Perhaps you would like to join our next Hypnobirthing class, and learn more about relaxation.
